What To Do After a DUI Arrest
Arizona DUI cases move on two tracks at once: the criminal case in court, and separate license issues through MVD. Handling both early matters.
Right After The Arrest
1. Do not discuss the facts with police without a lawyer.
2. Keep the citation, test paperwork, and any temporary license documents.
3. Write down what you remember about the stop while it is fresh.
4. Note every court date and MVD deadline on your calendar.
License / MVD Timing
Some DUI cases have short windows to request an MVD hearing after a blood or breath test issue. Missing that window can affect your license even while the criminal case is still open. Ask a lawyer about your paperwork right away — do not assume court and MVD are the same thing.
Before Your First Court Date
Call for a consult before the first appearance when you can. Bring what you have: citation, test results, and where the stop happened (Gilbert, Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, or nearby Pinal County).
